Recently I visited the land of the longest coastline. Greece is surrounded by Aegean Sea, Ionian Sea and Mediterranean Sea. It is definitely one of the most beautiful countries I have visited in Europe but it has one downside to it in personal view which is the driving. Driving is a nightmare in Athens. We hired 3 used cars for 6 days and we felt like we driving in India, Nepal or China.
The traffic is horrific. People are pushing for spaces on the road, some people drive through tram lines, which is terribly dangerous. The main downside are the road signs. The road signs are in Greek and if you don’t know how to read and speak Greek then you struggle to find your way round Athens or even the whole of Greece to be honest. The only things in English are the billboards advertising for erotic clubs and online casinos, what good is that for us?.
To be honest outside Athens driving is the best. Our drive to Delphi which is situated 3 hours away from Athens in the heart of mountains is an amazing experience. The road to Delphi leads through the mountains passing another small town called Arachova. It is a very dangerous road that leads to Arachova and then Delphi but it is definitely a most beautiful drive. While driving I had a deja vu of Nepal, driving through those beautiful Himalayas. The best experience definitely driving in the island or Poros and Aegina. To get to these islands you will have to catch a ferry from Athens and then hire a separate car when you get there. Once you get there, there are few temples and historical sculptures to go and see.
Driving is certainly a nightmare in Athens but outside the city its a treat. You will just need time to get used to Athens traffic and road signals. It is definitely easier to hire a car in Greece other than public transport because they only run till 11 pm. If you hire a car you will be able to travel at late nights too and coastal line drive at night has an amazing view.
We hired Audi A4 Saloon for our trip to Delphi and Arachova so I thought I will tell you a bit about this car. I have always loved writing car reviews on the cars I have driven on holidays, because it is important to let people know how this car behaved on our trip. I never had no problem with the Audi and I definitely recommend you to hire this car when you visit Greece.

US regulators are still trying to work out the cause of a dramatic sell off on Wall Street on Thursday night. Traders were left stunned after a plunge of nearly 1000 points in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. It was the biggest-ever fall in history, and it happened in just 8 minutes.
