Jonny Deep – His Best Movies

When this pretty boy leapt to stardom in the ’80s, no one could have predicted that he would become one of the most revered thespians of his generation. A former rock-and-roll wannabe, Depp segued into acting with a handful of big-screen supporting roles. With his amazing cheekbones and pouty lips, he became an instant sex symbol on the TV series 21 Jump Street. After graduating from the small screen, Depp shrewdly eschewed the traditional leading-man route, playing offbeat characters in movies helmed by edgy directors: John Waters, Terry Gilliam, and his most frequent collaborator, Tim Burton. Off screen he cultivated a bad-boy impression with a string of high-profile romances (Winona Ryder, Sherilyn Fenn, Kate Moss) and trashed hotel rooms. But Depp developed both personally and professionally in the ’00s, earning Oscar nods and making a stable home with his girlfriend Vanessa Paradis and their children. In 2007, he proved that, regardless of his superstar status, his family was his top priority when he interrupted the shoot of Sweeney Todd to be by his sick daughter’s bedside.

Johnny Depp is one of my absolute favourite actors, due to his penchant for picking quirky roles over Hollywood leading man or action hero types. I usually enjoy watching his movies (with some exceptions), so I have decided to make a list of my five ten of his movies, here’s the list.

5th Place

Blow (2001)

This 2001 film stars Depp as George Jung, a small-time pot dealer who became the leading distributor of cocaine in the U.S. Depp is the best thing about this movie, playing George from his 20s to his 50s or 60s and delivering an excellent performance. The film is well-made but it’s hard to sympathize with a drug dealer who destroyed so many lives.

4th Place

Public Enemies (2009)

The difficult 1930s is a time of robbers who knock over banks and other rich targets with alarming frequency. Of them, none is more notorious than John Dillinger, whose gang plies its trade with cunning efficiency against big businesses while leaving ordinary citizens alone. As Dillinger becomes a folk hero, FBI head J. Edger Hoover is determined to stop his ilk by assigning ace agent Melvin Purvis to hunt down Dillinger. As Purvis struggles with the manhunt’s realities, Dillinger himself faces an ominous future with the loss of friends, dwindling options and a changing world of organized crime with no room for him.

3th Place

Donnie Brasco (1997)

In the 1970s, FBI Agent Joe Pistone goes undercover and infiltrates the mob in New York City. Using the name Donnie Brasco, he befriends a ‘made’ mafioso Benjamin ‘Lefty’ Ruggiero. As time goes by, Pistone begins to identify and care for his mafia friends, especially Lefty. Pistone is married and has children but he is away for weeks or months at a time eventually leading to his wife asking for a divorce. When he stops reporting to the FBI daily as is required, his superiors decide the time has come to pull the plug on the operation. Based on a true story.

2th Place

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)

After Elizabeth Swann is kidnapped by the evil Captain Barbossa and his crew, the blacksmith Will Turner and the pirate Jack Sparrow, who used to be captain of Barbossa’s ship, team up to rescue Ms. Swann. But they soon discover that the pirates have their own secret, sinister purpose with Ms. Swann, and that there’s much more going on that a simple kidnapping.

1th Place

Ed Wood (1994)

This is an unlikely choice for number one: a movie about the worst director of all time, Edward D. Wood Jr., who loved dressing in drag and made such so bad-they’re-good films like Plan 9 From Outer Space. What made Wood become a legend is the fact that he really loved making films and he actually thought he was doing a good job. The film includes hilarious scenes like Bela Lugosi (Martin Landau in an amazing performance) pretending to fight with an octopus that someone lost the control for, and Tor Johnson (George “The Animal” Steele) walking into a door and shaking the whole set. Depp is also fantastic in the title role, and Wood’s enthusiasm and love of film shows through.

There are many great advantages of being able to watch watch movies online. For example if you are someone who comes home late from work and would like to just calm down and enjoy themselves by watching a film, and you might not want to go to the video, then why not just stay home and with just a click of the mouse you can watch any old or new movie.

All movies on free movies online are full length and there is no downloading required.
