Obviously the housing market isn’t even remotely similar as it was a few years ago. In those days, homeowners and investors were buying homes for sale like crazy. Almost a feeding frenzy, I can remember when no sooner did a For Sale sign go up, it was,within hours, taken right down again. In the same day.

It was not only the Real Estate agents but mortgage financing companies as they secured loans to the home buyers, contractors and home repair experts who made upgrades on the properties before they were put on the sales market, any company focusing on mortgage leads for sale, hardware stores and outlets, the classifieds department for local newspapers, lawn and garden companies and possibly many others that I’ve failed to list.

The consumer of today is shrewd, looks around for the better offer, stays close to his or her wallet, and isn’t characteristically solely looking for the best price. The new prospect is now the dictator of the marketplace be it with service companies, retail establishments and the Real Estate agent they select. The consumer of the next few years wants to see what you, as a provider are willing to do for them, they want to be convinced of how long it will take, how the service will be provided, and why they should believe you. This will be the year of “wanna show me how high you can jump?” and “What have you really done for me lately” Today’s consumers have the upper hand.

Just because there are currently families wanting to purchase a home, these prospective home buyers are not going to take the 1st offer promised to them by a real estate sales person, they may, however take the “finest” deal offered to them. These consumers are vivaciously and anxiously searching the web, even now to select the agent they feel comfortable with to do business with.

Once more, if the Real Estate Sales Agent who eventually is selected by this potential consumer doesn’t deliver everything promised, this new home buyer will openly let everyone hear about it through online review and complaint sites such as Yelp and other extremely large web sites.
